Let's Do Petra! Part I

The Siq

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siq

The Siq, or corridor, that is the 1.2k entrance to the site known as Petra.  You can walk, or ride the horse-drawn carts.  We opted to walk down, but we rode back through it in a cart.  The photos here in Part I are from the entrance of the Siq to the Treasury.  It is early morning...we started down about 8:30am, so the lighting is mixed.  You can tell how high the walls of this stone path are by the size of the people in the photos.  It's amazing!  Enjoy.

There!  You've just walked 1.2K to get to this point!
Part 2 will be posted soon.

Wadi Bashing at Wadi Rum, Jordan

This past week-end we went on our last trip while living Jerusalem.  We had to see Petra, one of the 7 Wonders of the World! The first day was driving all the way down Israel to Eilat, where there is a border crossing to Aqaba in Jordan.  We were met in Jordan by the bus driver who was taking us to Wadi Rum for a ride thru the site.  We bounced around the Wadi for 2 hours on the back of a pick up truck.  It was late afternoon, the sun was dropping, and the colors were changing every few minutes!  The sand was reddish-orange and the rocks were gorgeous...Please enjoy the photos, and read about Wadi Rum at this link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wadi_Rum

Our shadows!

Look at the size of the people in comparison to the "rocks".

These rocks will change with the lowering of the sun.

Waiting for the sun to set.
